I started my career more than seven years ago in the fast-paced, deadline-driven world of public relations. While I absolutely loved my profession, the birth of my son in July 2009 encouraged me to switch gears and embark on a new ambition: part-time teaching at a local university.
Yes, my work day looks a little different than it did when I was a budding PR professional. Gone are the days of fancy suits, coffee runs to Starbucks, and late-nights at the office wrapping up deadlines. I now create course outlines and respond to student emails while my toddler runs circles around the desk in my home office. I know, a little chaotic, but I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. I get to enjoy the best of both worlds—sharing what I have learned with the next generation of PR practitioners and having all the time in the world to watch my son grow.
My website includes a little of this and a little of that: samples of public relations campaigns, graphic design projects, graduate essays, and syllabi that I have created. All of these many facets illustrate the flexibility I have had to draft, design, and communicate with various audiences throughout the years.
